Stockton the City of Dreams is best known for having the largest inland port in the state of California. Founded in 1850, Stockton has seen its share of ups and downs. Located on the San Joaquin river in California’s Central Valley, the city of 311,000 exited bankruptcy in 2015 and has been pursuing a rebranding. Downtown renovation projects have given the city a new lease on life and resulted in the city’s economy trending up. The largest employers include healthcare facilities, educational services, and warehouse and distribution operations. Several companies have relocated their regional headquarters to the “new” Stockton.
